I don't think that's a petty comment at all... in fact, I think it's a critical gap that needs to be addressed in all markets. However, I'm not sure it's actually something Apple has control over... They're simply the distributor, and rely solely on the creators/owners to supply the content. In addition, it's my understanding that the Asian markets have been uninterested in the Apple offerings, and instead have been favoring services that cater to music consumption on cellphones. Until Apple releases their rumored "iPhone", I don't believe they'll have much influence in the Asian markets.

That said, when it comes to video content, all markets except the US are currently in the dark... I think that's a conscious decision for the time being. Looking at how the Music Store rolled out, I'd wager they'll follow a similar trajectory and wait until the US store matures before rolling out content in other markets.

This may be a petty comment but being in Asia I see huge gaps in local content. It took forever to offer Japanese content and that's an important and rather large market. I'd love to hear any attempt or thoughts on a global content delivery strategy. I think apple and others are ignoring a huge market...so far.

After re-reading my comment I did put too much emphasis on what Job's stated as being a future strategy rather than their current one. Which today, is to play nice with others. i.e. Cable, Sat, DVDs.

I agree with you about what Apple sees as the vision for "iTV" as do others. Companies like Walmart and Target are making it clear they are worried about Apple repeating upon their success in the music industry. They understand that Apple won't play nice for long. The only leverage guys like Walmart and Target have is being massive resellers of content for the big studios - In the long run, I'm doubtful that will have much effect. I expect we'll see tons of studios come online after the holiday DVD rush is finished and sales are sluggish.
